The Mystery of the Climats of Bourgogne

The 1,247 Climats of Bourgogne were recognized as Unesco World Heritage Sites in 2015, and honor which is well deserved! In fact there is no better illustration of the concept of terroir than it's pure expression through the Climats of Bourgogne. But wait...what is a Climat? How is a Climat different from a Lieu-Dit? This lecture will define the concept, evolution, and name origins of the Climats, explore the 2,000 year old creative collaboration between nature and humans in Bourgogne! As we discover the context and meaning of place in Bourgogne I have an amazing array of wines we will be tasting ranging from Village level from a single Climat, to 1er and Grand Cru…all from either the 2016 or 2017 vintages. If I charged what this class should cost with wine, I would need to ask at least $150 for the class, but these wines come from my cellar, and so this class is really, really, really a great value, and a gift from me to you actually!
